My Ban on McD

Since last month, i was planning of banning myself from the tasty Spicy Chicken McDeluxe & McD itself for few reasons & bringing down my weight is one of them. What is obvious in me is that i do easily gain weight if my life is 'under'-stress like now in Specialized Posting. I'm not boasting but relatively it is less stress than the previous posting. Seriously!!!.

Anyway, i have een reading this particular book, a production from Zaytuna Institute; Agenda to Change Our Condition by Shaikh Hamza Yusuf & Imam Zaid Shakir, pg 5. This one is interesting and worth pondering.

"Pure food is being replaced with fast food made with haste and waste, two attributes of the devil. Sugared sodas, replace natural milk, water and juice. Corporate fast food chains, with their mass-produced, disease-ridden, pathogenic food, now appear everywhere, even in the sacred cities of Mecca and Medina.

Meanwhile, Muslims, who for centuries ate food filled with barakah, made by people with loving hearts who found joy in feeding others, now line up to consume 'products' with less nutritional value than dog or cat food."

Being motivated by these words of enlightenment, i decided to stop consuming fast food. Start with small, end with big.

Now, it has been 8 days without McD.

I hope i have the strength to stop consuming other kind of fast foods like KFC, Burger King (that's my favorite) & etc.

Watch Your Tongue

Watch Your Tongue

This article is great. It talks about gossiping/ back-bitting which are becoming more and more evidence and culture in our society. This is a good reminder for me and those out there. May Allah guides us and help us. Amin.

KUALA LUMPUR - CRIMINALISE WAR

Today was the last day for the EXPOSE WAR CRIMES at PWTC.
I begin here with Benjamin Franklin's view on the war.

(This was taken at the entrance of the exhibition)

I concluded that the exhibition was an eye opening. It was a truly sad fact to see our brother in humanity is killing another brother in humanity. It was shocking to know the types of 'treatment' given to the prisoners of Abu Ghraib and the Guantanamo Bay. Also, the weapons that were used during the Iraq invasion. Towards the end of the exhibition, a board was dedicated for peace messages written by fellow humans who came for the event.

I hope people are not ignorance of this issue. We should also be thankful to the Al-Merciful that our country is blessed with so much peace; just a bit of daily political drama. Insha Allah, that too will resolve once the nation reach rational and civic maturity.

Sacred Knowledge

For the past 6 months, i have been following this website, http://www.sacredknowledge.co.uk/index.php . Yes, now, i'm going to promote this site. :)

i love how this site was design. It, sometimes, fulfilled some spot emptiness in me. The way they present the idea of religion really go hand-in-hand with my heart. i think, what really attracts me is the scholar that seems to be the backbone of this website.

He is a Syrian, which from his looks, i thought he was from the western side. I was wrong. Syrian do look like the west, but there is a bit of Arabic-blend in it. His good looking brown handsome beard really caught my eyes. His traditional wears are wonderful and ease to the eyes. The best part is his speech. His native tongue, would be Arabic. But, i guarantee you people that his English is just as wonderful as his knowledge about the Deen. His name is Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi.

(taken from http://www.flickr.com/photos/51306455@N00/191121603/)

After listening to some of his talks, it seems that he really advocates the Love of the Holy Prophet s.a.w. He is totally drown in love with the Prophet s.a.w. I am moved and touched and also glad to have the opportunity to came to know him. Those who really want to feel or learn how to love the Prophet s.a.w, i think, Shaykh al-Yaqoubi is the man.

Of course, he also seems to be well-versed in Tassawwuf. Hardly we find now-days the genuine one who talk about this subject. Of course they are those who really oppose to this one branch of Islamic Sciences. So sad to those people.

Anyway, i'm happy here, with the accessibility to the internet, that i'm still able to get in touch with his talk virtually. However, i hope, one day, i could see him and attend his class and benefit something from him. insha Allah.

I'll end here with a qasidah which taken from the site. Click it if u have the extra time. :)

To Tweet or Not To Tweet?

i have been doing some experiment with Twitter (the so-called micro-blogging). It is fun as i am able to make friends over there. However, after 3 days with Twitter (just only 3 days), i sense some kind of addiction of checking my tweets or others every now and then. Like the first time with the Facebook.

Luckily, there was a tweet about the Evil-Twitter. Here's the link from the tweet, http://www.vincentmaher.com/?p=874 .

After reading it, i guess, i have to think twice about Twitter. Let's see about it.

Let's Hear The Sweet Whisper of Rumi...

Na man behooda girde kocha wa bazaar megardam
Mazaaq-e-ashiqee daram paye dildar megardam

No I am not roaming aimlessly around the streets and bazaar
I am a lover searching for his beloved

Khudaya rahm kon bar man
Pareeshan waar megardam

God have mercy on me
I am walking around troubled

Khata karam gonahgaram
Ba hale zaar megardam

I have done wrong and sinned
and am walking around wounded

Sharabe showq menosham
Ba girde yaar megardam

I have drunk the wine of desire
and am strolling around beloved

Sukhan mastana megoyam
Walay hooshyaar megardam...

Though I may seem drunk
I am quite sober…

Allah knows.

A very good friend of mine uploaded this video on the Facebook. It's my first time watching it. I was glad that chance was given to me to listen to this. It reminded me that we are NEVER alone in this life. Allah is there watching over us at every steps of our lives. How can one become depress of loneliness when He is always there for us. It is a matter of recognizing His Presence in our daily consciousness. Sometimes, we become ghafil (heedless) due to over involvement to this physical world.

This video is a reminder. And reminding the self and other is a good thing.
